Ratnawali: Haryana Day State Level Fest-2009

"Ratnawali" - HARYANA DAY STATE LEVEL FESTIVAL
Few Words…
The annual Mega Festival of Harvanvi Culture-“The Haryana Day ‘Ratnawali’ Festival-2009” will grace the cultural world from October 27th to October 30st, 2009. This four day ‘Mahakumbh’ of Haryana’s rich culture has continuously been organized by the Department of Youth and Cultural Affairs, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra for more than two decades. Today it has to its credit a participation of more than 3,000 student participants from all the affiliated colleges of Haryana in 22 Haryanvi events. Haryana Day ‘Ratnawali’ Festival is organized with the sole motto of preservation and enrichment of the rich cultural heritage of Haryana. Our Department feels proud to be a flag-bearer of the cultural revival of Haryana along with the grand vision of establishing high academic standards.
Since November 1st, 1966, Haryana Day had been celebrated as a cultural evening in the campus. This continued till 1984. The year 1985 brought grandeur and grace to this celebration when the Department of Youth and Cultural Affairs introduced Haryana Day State Level Festival, only one of its kind in the state, with Literary Events at its introductory stage. This sincere initiative received wide appreciation and support; year-by-year Haryanvi events were added to the list of competitions. At present it has all forms of art i.e. Music, Dance, Theatre, Fine Arts and Literary events spending over 22 events in both male and female categories. Haryanvi Folk Orchestra, Saang: The folk Theatre, Haryanvi Pop Song, Haryanvi Gazal are the jewels in the graceful basket of the festival besides Group Song, Haryanvi Group Dance, Solo Dance, Haryanvi Bhajan, Tit-Bits, Skit, One-Act-Play, Monoacting, Painting, Folk Costume etc. All these events receive packed participation of young students from all Districts/ parts of Haryana. These events are orgenised at six different Venues i.e. The Shreemad Bhagwad Gita Sadan (Main Auditorium), Senate Hall, Radha Krishan Sadan, Open-Air-Theater, Crush Hall, Khula Manch for Saang. These Venues have in total a capacity for sitting of about 5000 people at one time. According to an analysis 10,000-12,000 people from all over the state come to attend the appreciate this four days Cultural Mahayajna: along with students artists, professional artists also entertain people with Competition Raagni, Saang and Mobile Folk Orchestra. Another milestone has been reached when the Department of Information and Public Relations, Haryana, organised the performances of the winning teams of Saang Competition in the ‘Yuva Saang Mahotsav’-2008, and honoured them with cash awards of Rs.51, 000, Rs 31,000 and Rs 21,000.
We are eager to welcome all with open arms who will come to join this Cultural Renaissance taking place at the ‘Dharambhumi’ Kurukshetra.
